All babies that have stays longer than a few weeks in the NICU are lucky enough to have Nurse Jackie make house visits every few months to ensure they are meeting their developmental milestones. Tatum got a soaring score yesterday! During our visit, we learned a new game that is meant to help Tatum sit on her own...playing in a laundry basket. Nurse Jackie told us the Bumbo seat we were using dosen't force Tatum to develop balance and is kind of like cheating. Playing in the basket allows her to explore balance while encouraging her to look down at her toys -- which is something preemie babies prefer not to do, they like to extend rather than bend. Looks like she's quite enjoying herself, right.
